When Thanks are Due…
We bloggers don’t just write for ourselves. If we did, we’d be diarists. Nope, we write to get read. That’s why we go to the effort of sending our thoughts, happenings, and doings into the blogosphere.
Needless to say, we’re thrilled when people notice us. For example, we’re delighted by “likes” and excited by “comments.” But what’s even better? When readers go that one step further…
Thanks, Annemarie, for paying it forward!
Kat at KatsHealthCorner, a young woman with a passion for healthy food, nominated me for the “Reader Appreciation Award.”
Thank you, Kat, for your thoughtfulness. I appreciate your appreciation!
Maggie at Maggie’s Corner, a creative (writing) person herself, nominated me for the “Creative Chaos Award.”
This one wowed me, Maggie. Thanks so much!
These nominations have set me tasks. Kat’s award involves answering questions about myself—for example, what is my favourite flower? Maggie’s award takes the same concept and well…gets creative. For instance, Question #3: “ You find yourself in a desolate place when your car breaks down. You have no cellphone service, no Wal-Mart, and only a candy bar for food. It is 150 miles to the closest town. What color are you underpants, and why?”
At first I thought these would be easy, but then I got that existential angst—you know, the Woody Allen kind of angst—where every question drives you deeper into dithering indecision.
What flower? Are we talking perennials or annuals, sun flowers or those that love shade, gaudy look-at-me flowers or shy bloomers? How do you pick out just one from nature’s abundance?
Then there’s the ominous underwear question. What I really want to know is how I ended up with a candy bar when I don’t eat them. What was I thinking? And if I was thinking, what kind of candy bar would it have been? Did I go the pure chocolate route or head straight for the caramel, peanut butter, or almonds? Did I…
In short, I don’t think there’s a reader out there who would want to know my answers. That may mean I can’t accept these awards, but I can give thanks to the nominators who took the time and effort to recognize me and my blog.
